Submissions

Australian Young Lawyer welcomes submissions from law students and young lawyers who meet one (1) of the following criteria:
  1. Are an Australian Law student enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate law degree, or
  2. Are an Australian Law Graduate currently completing Practical Legal Training (PLT), or
  3. Are an Australian Legal Practitioner practicing law in any Australian State or Territory.
We welcome the following submissions on any topic that is comparative and on law and social justice: 
  1. Legal research essays 
  2. Case studies and/or reviews
  3. Interviews with legal professionals, law students and/or law academics 
  4. Opinion pieces
  5. Career and job interview advice and more.
Please ensure your submission meets the mandatory guidelines: 
  1. Articles can be no more than 2000 words. 
  2. Submissions must be in Microsoft Word format. 
  3. Typed in Arial or Times New Roman font at 12 point size 
  4. Must include footnotes (where necessary) and conform to the latest edition of the Australian Guide to Legal Citation (AGLC). 
  5. The submission must not be already published or, currently under consideration with, any other publication. 
  6. We accept originally written assessments by the contributor but it must be your own work. 
When you email your submission, please also include the following information in the body of your email: 

Law Students 
  1. Your full name 
  2. The name of your tertiary education provider (Eg: University, LPAB or College of Law) 
  3. The course you are studying 
  4. Your submission sent from your student email account. 
*submissions not received from a student email account will not be accepted. 

Legal Practitioners
  1. Your full name 
  2. Your professional title (Eg: Solicitor, Barrister, etc) 
  3. The name of the Law Society you are licensed with. ​
  4. The name of your practice (optional) 
*submissions will not be accepted where a licensee can not be verified with the relevant Law Society.

Please note: Submissions containing one or more of the following will NOT be accepted:
  1. Content that is irrelevant or is unlawful or offensive, such as that promoting racism, bigotry, hatred, harassment or physical harm of any kind against any group or individual or could be harmful to minors.  
  2. Content that is false, misleading or promotes illegal activities or conduct that is abusive, threatening, obscene, defamatory or libelous. 
  3. Content that promotes illegal or unauthorised copy of another person's copyrighted work. 
  4. Supplying Content that impersonates another person or entity.
